I agree with Ted here....as long as youve got a garage. £20k would get you an half decent mid-1960s Ford Mustang.

With Ted on this one and actually enjoy having a bit of fun with your Investment Don't see a buy to let doing that unless you let it out as a Brothel

I'd give BTL a swerve. Given the fact you can't claim the 40% tax relief anymore plus when the property is empty, as it will be, you have to pay the FULL council tax even though it's empty. This changed on 1st April this year.

I've just sold 2. One had a tenant in for 5 months, done me for £3000 in rent, £2000 to get her out and done £11000 of damage to the property. Wiped out about 5 years of profits in 5 months.

No more landlording for me.

As for the £20k, coke and hookers my friend, coke and hookers, on your deathbed it will be the wisest of all your investments.

I've had a few good tips of here over the years. Northern Sold suggesting Curb Your Enthusiasm, Alan providing details of an excellent file-sharing site, but the best has to be someone, it might be Brucie who suggested The Funding Circle. I've been in it for a few years and have so far achieved growth of 16% annually. I add a bit every month and will watch the magic of compound interest do its work over the next 20 years.

I'd never put all my eggs into one basket, but it's been a sound investment for me so far.
